End of the Year Blog

I can't believe it's over and I'm graduating. This has been an exciting year. Me and SarahEllen made a video game, well, a level from a video game, I was editor in chief of yearbook, and I even got to my favorite band in concert. =D But Next college.

This class was a great experience for me. Learning coding for a game is hard and complex but teaches you something new you never knew before.

SarahEllen and I finished out first level and when we showed it and got positive feedback, I was one of the most happiest teenagers in our school.

This was a fun class and I looked forward to it everyday. It made school fun because you're learning what you want to.

The next few pictures are our game and I will explain each screenshot.

Game Presentation Idea

Well, I wasn't here Thursday because my friend took me to see my favorite band for my concert but I have returned relaxed and ready to finish this school year.

SarahEllen has went over what we are supposed to be doing for our presentation and I have a feeling we are close to finishing this level 1. I don't think we'll have time for level 2 because we have to get our presentation together.

We are going to do a powerpoint with game slides, ideas of the game, descriptions of the game, and other things they need for our games.

As this year is coming to an end, we are getting more excited for graduating but I think me and Sarahellen will be ready. I can't wait til it's over though. Stressful. Very stressful.

Dated Outline (From SarahEllen)

In the next couple of class periods, we hope to have our boundary code fixed. After that, we plan to add the trash items to the game and code them into the mini-game by April 23 or April 27. Following that, we plan to finish drawing and coding the mini-game by May 7. We hope to have Level 1 complete and have everything we went in it by May 15th. This will most likely be our game demo for the STEM competition. If we have time, we will begin work on Level 2.

Outline.

We are supposed to do an outline for the rest of our game but I'm not really sure if this will go as planned but here is what I hope we can go by.
By the end of April I hope to finish our 1st level. We've gotten so far with it and we are almost done. We just need a few more codes and that's all.
Then through may we hope to at least start on the first part of level two and if we have time we hope to at least get something for the level 2 mini game.

So much is coming up like prom and graduation and summer vacation. College is getting closer too and there is so much to do for it. Hopefully our game can be completed without any distractions.

end of the year.

Well. Here we are with about 6 weeks of school left and we are almost finished with our first level. We have had many snow days and then our router gets stolen during "Fake Break." But I think we have caught up pretty well. We plan to finish our first level and then try to get a start with the second level. We have a scrolling background finally and we have our character moving but now we have to work with the boundary. As soon as we're done with that we're going to put some trash all over the roads and then have the biker pick it up to recycle for points. Then we need to get start with our 2nd question. Hopefully we don't have any more problems.

March 25, 2010

Well. We were supposed to spend the whole class working on our games but...we can not find our game therefore we did nothing but search for our games. Hopefully we find it soon. I know you can go get the code on our latest upload but of course last class we didnt have time to upload to the wiki what we spent for on last class and we lost it.

Progress

Well we have a little over 2 months left of school and our game is somewhat moving along. We post our game everytime we update so I think we do great with that. Also coding is getting easier and a lot I noticed is the same as myspace. These snow days have slowed us down but I think we will move a long and I do think we deserve good credit because everyday we've had class we've moved along pretty well. With sarahellen on coding and me on design I think we make a great team.

GAME UPDATE!!!!

It is now March 11th and we are finally getting back into game mode from our endless amounts of snow days. Hopefully we don't get anymore. And not to mention the endless amounts of 2 hour delays which shortens our class.
Anyways, we've almost finished the first level. All we lack is the button to the mini game and the mini game which might take a while. Due to our router being stolen, we don't have a screen for our instructer to help us so we've been in the cafeteria working on our games. We've gotten great news though and hopeully we'll be able to have internet in our original class again.

Parry Hotter and life.

Well this snow is really starting to get on my nerves. We graduate 3 months today and I feel so behind. From yearbook to globaloria to trig to english...I can not take this. The sleep is nice...VERY nice. But I'm sick of my house. Im so annoyed with this not finishing our game and our wireless router is gone so now we have to go to the cafeteria and it's so boring because they turned the TV off and we didn't get to see the end of the case. Me and Sam are so mad. grr. I wish our school would buy a new router instead of TV's. I don't even like the TV's because all we can watch is the news....BOOO! Next month I am going go see my favorite band, Paramore, and I'm pretty much thrilled. I also turn 18 next month. Hopefully we start to have more school because I want to finish the yearbook and our game. This is how me and sarahellen feel.

NOW. My life.
I was born in a castle but my parents died due to a maniac wizard who was jealous of my dad. So my grandpaw I guess took me to this house with his girlfriend. He's a wizard and she cna turn into a cat. But they dropped me on this lightening flash berett and now I have this HUGE scar on my forehead. So I lived with my so called "aunt" and "uncle" and "cousin" and then on my birthday one day this HUGE dude came and picked me up. I was like whoa...dude...it's called shaving...and he took me away to this big princess castle where everyone knew who I was because of my forehead. They were like oh my! You're famous. So I went and this big dude bought me a wand. I felt like a fairy princess.

Then he bought me a big bird. I guess princess's get birds. I named him Hedwig. So one day they took me to this party hall where everyone eats and they asked me to sit down to be crowned. But the crown started talking. I guess it's a magical talking crown. He was like GRIFANDOR! I guess that means future queen? But they were like ok go here. Hopefully I can grant some wishes. I got bored and drew a picture of myself in potions class. See.

So sam just found stevie wonder's twitter page. I've never laughed so hard.

New coding blog

As most everyone knows, we have not had school in forever due to amounts of snow greater than greenland. But we are thinking about future things we would like to do in school. We would like to add in a scrolling background to our game.
Video


The video describes making an object and duplicating it multiple times to put each one into a new keyframe on the timeline. Then you would create different layers to make the background appear to scroll.

Game Development Plan

Our game development plan consists of Intro to ActionScript which is learning how to make codes and put ideas into flash, Programming Practices which is practice the codes we are going to use in our game , Learning from Others which is learning new codes from others and sharing flash files with team partner, Screen Motions which is learning what codes work the screen to move from one scene to another, Making Objects Disappear which is learning or making codes that make objects disappear when character picks them up, Buttons which deals with learning how to make buttons, Objects Moving Across the Scene which deals with learning how to make objects move across the screen and in angles, Different Levels and Mini Games which deals with making different levels, mini games, and constructing them, Character Motions which deals with making the character move in all directions, and Publishing Your Game which deals with publishing our final and finished product. These are our plans for our game.

New Years Resolution

Well I can say that we are a lot farther than I thought we would be but we still have much to do.

Accomplishments
1. I am happy that I finished my mini game.
2. I am happy we got our game started.

Goals
1. I would like to get one level done, including mini game and all soon so we can move a lot quicker.
2. I would like to learn cool codes to make our game a lot cooler.
3. I want to finish our game, and not just finish but I want the game to be accomplished, before I graduate.

Other School's Progress.

This school has progressed quite a bit. I think we're a little further but that doens't mean anything. One day they could go BAM and have a lot done. I hope to see this game in the future. It looks kind of fun but I don't really understand it. We have a game started but they only have the slides done.
